Quick Notes

Effective date: September 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: September 1, 2026

This policy explains what information Quick Notes (the "App"), published by Iron Swine Studios, collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. The App is a local-first note-taking app for Android. It applies only to Quick Notes and not to other Iron Swine Studios apps, each of which has its own policy.

1. Information we collect

The App has no account or sign-in of any kind. Your notes are stored only in the App's local database on your device and are never sent to us or to any server we control.

Your notes

Everything you type — titles, formatting, and text — stays on your device. We never see it, collect it, or transmit it anywhere. The only exception is the App's own Export Notes feature: when you choose to export, the App hands a backup file to the share sheet or file location you pick. That sharing is initiated by you and goes wherever you direct it — not to us.

Advertising data

The App shows a single banner ad via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect an advertising identifier and other information to show and measure ads, and to request your consent for personalized ads where required, as described in Google's own privacy policy (linked below).

Purchase data

The optional one-time "Remove Ads" purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing — the App talks to Google Play directly, with no other company in between. We never see or store your payment card details; Google Play only tells the App whether a purchase for that product was completed, so it can turn ads off.

Microphone permission

The App declares the Microphone permission on Android, but the App itself never records or accesses audio. This permission exists only so your keyboard's built-in voice-typing feature (such as Gboard's microphone button) can work while typing in the App — on some Android devices, the keyboard's own voice input requires the foreground app to declare this permission, even though the app never uses it directly.

2. How we use information

3. Third-party services

The App relies on the following services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy.

ServiceUsed for
Google AdMobShowing and measuring in-app ads, ad consent
Google Play BillingProcessing in-app purchases

Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We never collect your notes in the first place, so there is nothing of that kind to share. We share only the limited advertising and purchase information described above with the service providers listed, to the extent needed for them to provide those services to us, and where required by law.

5. Your choices

6. Children's privacy

Quick Notes is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 — in fact, the App doesn't collect personal information from anyone, since it has no accounts and stores notes only locally on-device. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll address it.

7. Data security

Your notes are stored locally in the App's own sandboxed storage on your device, protected by your device's operating system. We never transmit your notes to any server, so there is no server-side copy of your content to secure or breach. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of your device.

8. Data retention

Your notes remain on your device for as long as the App is installed, or until you delete them yourself. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all notes stored in it, unless you've exported a backup beforehand. We do not retain any copy of your notes, since we never receive them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Play Console "Data Safety" quick reference

A working answer key for the Data Safety questionnaire, based on what's actually wired into the App as of this writing. Play's form changes its exact wording occasionally — treat this as a starting point and double-check each answer against the live form.

Security practices

  • Data is encrypted in transit — yes, for the limited advertising/purchase data sent to Google (standard for Google's own SDKs).
  • You can request data deletion — largely not applicable: the App never collects your notes, so there's nothing on our end to delete beyond uninstalling. For AdMob's own limited data, contact us or use Google's opt-outs.
  • Committed to Play Families Policy / target audience — this app targets a general audience, not children.
